What We Believe

The Bible is the inerrant, infallible, inspired Word of God.  It is the final authority in all matters of faith and practice.

The Bible is complete, existing in the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments.

The Bible has been and will continue to be preserved for all generations.  We reject translations that have been tampered with or translated in a paraphrase format. For the sake of consistency, we will use the New King James Version of the Bible in all aspects of the teaching ministries at New Life Baptist Church.

The Bible should be interpreted in the literal or “normal” way of interpretation

(2 Timothy 3:16, 2 Peter 1:21, Matthew 4:4, Psalm 119:89, Psalm 119:160)

There is one true God, Jehovah, and has revealed Himself through creation, conscience, Jesus, and the Word of God.

The Bible reveals God to be holy, righteous, Omniscient, Omnipresent, Omnipotent, Immutable, and eternal among others. God is the only One who deserves and receives our glory.

God is co-equal, co-powerful, and co-eternal with the Son and the Spirit.

Isaiah 6:3, Malachi 3:6, Psalm 19:1-3, Romans 1:18-25, Deuteronomy 6:4-5)

Jesus is the Son of Man and the Son of God.

Jesus is co-equal, co-powerful, and co-eternal with the Father and the Spirit.

Jesus is the second person of the Trinity, God the Son.

Jesus was born of a virgin through the Holy Spirit as prophesied in the Old Testament.

Jesus is eternal, righteous, holy, Omniscient, Omnipresent, Omnipotent, Immutable, and an active participant in the Creation of the world.

Jesus died on the cross to pay for the sins of the world and rose bodily from the grave on the third day and is now seated on the right hand of the Father forever making intercession for us.

(Daniel 7:13-14, Hebrews 1:1-8, John 1:1-14, Isaiah 9:6, Isaiah 7:14, Isaiah 53:1-4, John 8:58-59, John 10:30, Hebrews 4:14-16)

From the day that Adam and Eve sinned all men have inherited that sin nature. Because humankind is now sinners and God is holy, they cannot live in the presence of God.

God from the foundation of the world had a plan to send Jesus Christ, the Son of God, to live a perfect life on the earth and die on a cross to pay for the sins of every person who has ever and will ever live.

Salvation from our sin is not achieved through anything we can do but only through the shed blood of Jesus Christ. At the moment a sinner believes that they need to be saved from their sin and their only hope is to believe on the death of Jesus to pay for their sin they will be saved and start a relationship with God.

God who cannot lie promised that those who put their trust in Christ for their salvation will not perish but have everlasting life.

(Genesis 3, Titus 3:5, Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23, Romans 10:9-13, John 3:16, Ephesians 2:8-9)

God created the world and all that is contained therein in 6 literal 24 hour days, and rested on the 7th. The Bible gives clear indication of how God created everything and thus there is no need to add the “gap” theory or any evolutionistic theories.

God created the world by speaking it into existence from nothing. All three persons of the trinity were at and apart of the creation of the world.

God during the creation week made man out of the dust of the earth and breathed into him the breath of life making man a living soul. Mankind then rebelled against God and sinned. Since then that sin nature has been passed down to every person who has ever lived.

(Genesis 1-2, Hebrews 1:2, Genesis 1:26-27, Genesis 3, Romans 1-3, Romans 3:10, Revelation 21:8)

God created only male and female.

God instituted marriage to be between one man and one woman for one lifetime. It is God’s plan for any relations between a man and a woman to be saved for when they are married.

Any perversions of God’s design and gift of sex including fornication, adultery, homosexuality, lesbianism, bisexuality, bestiality, incest, and pedophilia are sinful and need the blood of Jesus to pay for their sin just like everyone else.

(Genesis 2:23-24, Ephesians 5:22-33, Genesis 19:4-11, Leviticus 18, Romans 1:26-28, 1 Corinthians 5:1, 6:9-10, 1 Thessalonians 4:1-8)
